We are very sorry to hear of the death last Friday of Margaret Lock. Margaret was one of the first lady members of Walton RC and its first lady Vice-President. She was a staunch supporter of the club throughout the 1970s and 1980s, running the catering at events and regular club suppers. Many members will have sculled in one of the doubles named after her – the photograph shows her at the christening.
Margaret’s husband Jack was a member of several very successful Walton fours and eights in the 1950s; her son Andrew and daughter Sharon both rowed at the club, as well as son-in-law John Fish, grandson James and granddaughter Joanna. Margaret had been in poor health for some years but was happy to watch Walton crews from her bungalow on the riverbank at Thames Meadow, supported by Sharon and Johnathan. We extend our sympathies to Sharon, Andrew and their families.
We will advise details for the funeral as soon as possible.
