On Friday the Club again hosted what has become the annual Walton Mile swim. Forty-five swimmers from Surrey Outdoor Swimmers, Teddington Bluetits, Reigate Bluetits and Serpentine Swimming Club completed the one-mile course from Cowey Sale to the Club.
The conditions on the day were excellent, and the recent Thames Watch water quality tests showed a low E. coli count. Neil West and other Club members provided safety cover, while the Club offered changing facilities, showers and hot drinks for all participants, who were also awarded a woven badge at the end of their swim. Organiser Sarah-Jane Kelland says “the event reflected a true spirit of community and outreach. These simple but meaningful contributions help forge stronger connections between local clubs, swimmers and the wider community, showing how the river can bring people together while supporting a better understanding of the waterways we enjoy.”
