Head races

After five months of cancelled races the Walton squads competed in six major events in a frantic two-week period that marks the end of the Head race season.

First up was the Women’s Head on the Tideway course where we had four eights racing: three masters and one junior crew.

Next was Kingston Head with eight junior crews and two masters, with wins for the WJ 4- of Izzi/Juliette/Bella/Holly and the Intermediate 8+ of Patrick/Ben S/Seth/Jake/Alex/Evan/Charlie/Harry c Emily .

Then we had two junior crews in the Eights Head of the River Race – the first time we’ve been able to do this for many years as it has recently clashed with Schools Head dates.

The next day saw the Vets Head on the Tideway with four eights, three quads and a well-deserved win for the WC 4x of Tara/Lyana/Adrienne/Holly.

Then the Schools Head back on the Tideway with a girls’ quad of Juliette/Izzi/Bella /Holly who came tenth overall, and a boys’ quad as well.

Finally the next day saw the National Junior Sculling Head at Dorney where Walton had an amazing 51 junior members racing, with crews in every age-group, both boys and girls.  There were some very good results, with the highlights being the J17 4x bronze medal for Hugo/Will/Charlie/Jake and ninth place for the WJ15 octuple of Evangeline/Annabel/Robyn/Sayali/Jess/Amelia/Olivia/Scarlett c Emily.
