Good luck to Walton alumni at senior trials

This week-ends GB Senior Trials sees the largest ever contingent of former Walton juniors fighting for places in the Great Britain Senior and under23 teams.

Matt Tarrant has an excellent chance of selection for this key Olympic qualification year as he is currently World Champion in the men’s eight. Another with sights firmly set on a seat for Rio is 2014 u23 World’s sculling medallist Angus Groom who recently lowered his 2k erg pb to 5.56.

Morgan Bolding and Oliver Knight are strong contenders for the u23 Worlds sweep team with their excellent results, coming 4th and 8th in the Head of the River Race as freshmen with Oxford Brookes and Newcastle Universities respectively. Also from Brookes, Annie Withers is trialling for the women’s sweep team. Callum Gathercole (Univ of Bristol), Alistair Douglass (Univ of Surrey) and Sam Mottram (Leander) are all contenders for the u23 lightweight men’s team. European Universities medallist Katy Denham (Durham Univ), and Hannah Traylen (Exeter Univ) are trialling as u23 lightweight women.

Good luck to all of them, and you can follow their progress on the British Rowing web-site over the week-end.
