Congratulations to Mat Tarrant and Morgan Bolding for their win in the Silver Goblets and Nickalls Challenge Cup at Henley – exactly 50 years since an all-Walton crew last won at Henley! Mat and Morgan, both Hon Life members, were representing Oxford Brookes; they each joined Walton as juniors and did the bulk of their junior rowing from Walton, representing GB as juniors in 2007-8 (Mat) and 2013 (Morgan), before moving on to Brookes, the U23 and then senior squads; they were both reserves for the GB squad at the Tokyo Olympics.
Annie Withers, also a Hon Life member, was in the Leander eight that won the Remenham Challenge Cup, while Issy Hawes was in the Brookes crew that won the new Island Challenge Cup for student eights. Former Walton junior Rory Harris took Angus Groom’s place in the Tokyo quad to win the Queen Mother Challenge Cup. Many congratulations to them all.
