A good day at Weybridge Silver Sculls yesterday despite the downpour during the first division … Walton came away with six wins, ten second places and a notable 1-2-3 in Mixed Masters doubles.
For the Masters, Hazel and Richard won the mixed doubles, closely followed by Suzi and Vince and then by Beatrice and Nick. Suzi and Beatrice also won D 2x, while there were second places for Hazel and Tara, Fiona (E 1x), Jamie (C 1x) and Jonathan (G 1x). The juniors had to contend with larger fields, and some pretty high-quality opposition, so the wins by Francesca (WJ18 2x and the Bonnie Bird Cup), Ciaran/Julius (J17 2x), Juliette and Izzy H (WJ15 2x), Alex M (J15 1x) were all the more impressive, as well as second places for Patrick and Evan (J15 2x), Harry (J16 1x), Rebecca/Francesca (WJ18 2x), Henry Z/Ben (J17 2x) and Charlie H (J14 1x).
After a long summer with very little racing, it was great to experience a more-or-less normal event – thanks to Weybridge RC for the organisation.
