Olympic Silver for Angus

Olympic Silver for Angus

After a long career as a Junior, U23 and senior squad member, this morning Angus Groom won a Silver medal in the quad sculls at the Tokyo Olympics. In fairly blustery conditions (but a moderate tailwind) the GB crew broke the previous world record but were about three-quarters of a length behind World Champions the Netherlands. The race for all the medal positions was extremely close, with positions changing several times through the race; GB finished only 0.2s ahead of Australia. Many congratulations to Angus and his crewmates!

It’s fairly easy to find a video of the last 100m (eg on BBC Sport), but we may have to wait some time for the full video replay.
