Great to be back at Dorney, and in good conditions, for two days of Nat Schools followed by the Junior Sculling Regatta (for J15s/16s only this year). The weather was good, but with a bit of variable cross-headwind.
The standard of racing was high, too, and four crews all did well to reach their A finals: on Saturday the girls’ four (Elysia, Hannah, Francesca and Lola) won silver, and the ‘B’ boys’ quad came fourth. On Sunday the J16 quad came sixth in a tightly-fought final. And finally on Monday the J15 octo (Alex J, Alex M, Bastie, Henry, Fin, Alex R, Max, Harry c Poppy) battled Sir W Borlase the whole way up the course, finally conceding a quarter of a length at the finish to take the silver.
Many Walton helpers as well, with a special mention for the Howells family, who collected numbers assiduously throughout a long, hot afternoon – thanks to them.
