The trials for selection for the Thames London team for the Junior Inter-Regionals were held at Walton on Saturday. Gianluca and Eva both won their events and will go on to join the boys’ J16 four and double and the girls’ J16 double, who had already been selected based on earlier results.
Meanwhile at Nottingham, Katherine and Matt were among 60 of the top junior rowers in the country invited to a four-day GB Assessment camp. Both of them were able to use their better technique to beat athletes with 2k ergos 30 secs quicker than theirs; Katherine just missed out on the quad and double selected for the Munich Junior Regatta in May, but is looking very good for selection for GB later in the season. Matt came through 20 1500m races over four days to be one of the twelve selected for the boys’ sweep squad for Munich. The official GB announcement will come out later, confirming his place and which boat he will be in. Well done both of them!
