The conditions on Saturday for the Masters Champs were incredibly challenging, with a strong headwind (ie normal for Nottingham); by the Sunday the wind had dropped significantly. 13 crews made the journey from Walton; all made a final and they returned with 9 medals!
The six gold-medal winners were Chris, Simon, Holly and Tara in Mixed quads; Holly, Tara, Gill and Kitty in C quads; Chris and Simon in both E pairs and doubles, and a W 50+ composite eight with Star Club and Aberdeen which included Liz, Suzi, Fiona W, Anna and cox Ian. Chris and Simon also won gold in an E coxless four composite with London.
There were silvers for the G coxed four of Dave, Jeremy, Richard, Charles c Kathryn, and the C quad of Adrian, Paul S, Chris and Jamie. And bronze for the women’s E eight of Fiona, Gill, Tracy, Suzi, Hilary, Anna, Fiona, Jo c Ian.
Also Chris won bronze in the D 4x with Molesey (meaning he raced ten times over the two days), and Kathryn gold in F 8+ coxing a composite crew of five different clubs.
