Matt Heywood, recent Walton junior and son of Masters member Steve, was in the 4-seat of the GB under 23 eight that won the World Championships in Varese, Italy this weekend.
Matt started on a Walton beginners course aged 14 and developed through our junior programme, winning many top-class events and national medals on the way, including selection in the GB J16 pair with Thomas Philpott. He then went on to Oxford Brookes University and has achieved some amazing results including winning the Temple Challenge Cup for student eights at Henley this year.
We look forward to seeing Matt back at the club later in the Summer, and also watching his future rowing career.
