More Medal Success

Medals galore in Hannover, Germany, for former Walton junior athletes. They were each representing their universities at the European Universities Rowing Championships. Katy Denham recently set a phenomenal women’s U23 record for the Round-the-Island course of 37.48, so we knew she was on good form going into the Championships. She duly delivered in a really exciting race, winning the gold in the lightweight single for Durham University by 3 feet! Hannah Traylen, representing Exeter, won gold in the lightweight doubles too. And rounding off a good day for Walton girls, Annie Withers, fresh from a World U23 bronze in the eight, got silver in Hannover in the Oxford Brookes four. Not to be outdone, the Walton boys also delivered two golds, from Morgan Bolding of Oxford Brookes in the eight, and Oli Knight of Newcastle in the four. Alistair Douglass won the B-final of the men’s double sculls for Surrey University.
