Hampton Head was the first event to run on the non-tidal Thames since the end of October! Despite the still-challenging conditions, in particular some strong and gusty winds, Walton crews were clearly delighted to get back to racing and responded with some excellent results. In particular, the championship quad (Rowan, James, Aidan, Harry) came second overall, only 0.3s behind winners Henley. The championship girls’ four (India, Elysia, Hannah, Lola) came third in their event, while J17 pair Gianluca and Toby came an excellent second in Championship pairs. The J15 quad (Cyrus, Julius, Henry, Ciaran c Toby Keary) were fourth but only 2 seconds behind the winners of their event. WJ16 quad Eva, Imogen, Emily and Scarlett had a good race in their first open event. Our other crews also performed well and made Walton one of the most successful clubs at this high-standard event.
