It was really good to have Walton & Weybridge Regatta back on our reach after three years. The weather was kind and the organisers managed to squeeze in 220 races!
None of the older junior crews raced, but the Masters in particular had a good day, with wins in Mas EF 2x (Jonathan Batey, Mike Bishop), EFG 4x (Jeremy Arnold, Doug Knox, Duncan Graham, Nick Harris), W D 4x (Tara O’Leary, Suzi Eatock, Hazel Thiemann and Beatrice Philpott), FG 1x (Richard Thiemann) and BC 1x (Jamie Pine). Park and Juliette took the one junior pot, in WJ15 2x. There were also several losing finalists and tight races along the way …
As a postscript, when he got home Jeremy dug out the pot he won in Sen C VIIIs at Walton in 1977, rowing for Bryanston. 1977 was the Queen’s Silver Jubilee year and the pot has that engraved on it.
