We are sad to report the death of Dennis Kates on New Year’s Day, at the age of 96. Dennis was a regular feature of Club crews in the 1950s and 60s, and continued to be very active in Walton Amateur Regatta well into the 1980s. He and Helen were also very good club members and rarely missed a Sunday lunchtime or Club function (the picture shows him in the “new” Donoratico quad at the Club’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 1987). Latterly he had become quite frail and was in and out of hospital over the last couple of months.
The funeral will be held at Randalls Park on Friday 3rd February, and thereafter at the Old Crown in Weybridge; details are on the Club Stuff page (login to view).
