Walton & Weybridge Regatta

Dear all, our local summer event Walton & Weybridge Regatta (formerly Walton Amateur regatta) established in 1862, is struggling to survive. I have been informed by the organising committee that due to lack of volunteers on the management side, the regatta will not go ahead this year and going forward unless we can urgently find people to assist in the pre-planning of the event. It would be a great shame to permanently lose this event from the rowing calendar. If you are able to provide assistance in these roles, please let me know:
The key roles that are required are:
-Chairman (ideally needs to be a qualified umpire)
-Entries Secretary
-Communications (i.e. someone to manage the radio and loudhailer allocations during the day, check they’re working in advance, problem solve on the day etc)
-Sponsorship & Publicity – communicating with local press / community organisations to publicise the regatta
-IT, results on the day, website.
Not all of these roles require lots of rowing experience.
If you think you can offer your time to the regatta with regard to something not listed above, do let me know also and I will forward your details to the regatta committee.
Many thanks, Sam Bishop. Captain, Walton Rowing Club.
