Walton win National Coaching Team of the Year

Walton's coaching successes over the last year have been recognised with the award of British Rowing's Coaching Team of the Year.  The award committee noted that Walton not only consistently produces excellent junior scullers and rowers, many of whom go on the represent Great Britain, but also has made excellent progress in introducing more adult and veteran beginners to the sport and now has waiting lists for most of its squads.  Most of the coaching team will be attending the award presentation which is held at the Great Britain senior team trials finals at Dorney Lake.

Bar Steward - Len Lee PDF Print E-mail

Len has been active at the Club for twenty years now since his sons started rowing here.

Since we have demolished his bar he has a bit of time on his hands which he fills doing odd jobs fixing boats and things.

A large bar will be an important part of our new building.

Treasurer - Grant McKenzie PDF Print E-mail

Grant McKenzie is our Treasurer. He started rowing at Weybridge but soon realised the error of his ways.

If you have any large sums of money you don't know what to with I'm sure we can find a use for them and Grant is the person to talk to.

Grant also helps organise Walton Small Boats Head.

Great Results at Hampton Junior Head PDF Print E-mail

Sam Knight and Angus Groom won the junior doubles title in impressive style, and then teamed up in a composite to come second in the quads.

Our next best result came from the youngest girls group who came second in WJ13 quads, less than a second behind the winners.

The older girls also did exceptionally well, with Holly Jones, Sam Ball, Hannah Traylen and Julia Clarke coming second in girls fours, and then teaming up with Sophie Walker, Naomi Allberry, Alice Correiea-Morton, Annie Withers and Joanna Fish to come 5th in the eights.

Our younger boys matched the girls with second place in J13 quads, and 8th in J14 octuples against a very strong field containing most of the top rowing schools.
