Since its founding in 1927, Walton Rowing Club has been known both locally and nationally for its devotion to competitive excellence, and also for its egalitarian club spirit. Its home for 80 years on the Thames at Walton will we hope soon be redeveloped, giving us a new home for the coming decades. We have had a splendid history of competitive success at the club both nationally and internationally. But whether competitive or recreational, club members are all devoted to enjoying the Thames and sharing our enthusiasm for this great sport. You Are Welcome! Walton Rowing Club welcomes new members of any level of experience. Programs and instruction are available for beginners of any age. Row with a crew, or scull alone. Our members range in age from 14 through 92. Rowing is great exercise, providing a full-body, low impact workout. Enjoy the water between Sunbury and Shepperton locks year-round and stay in shape at the same time. The Club offers rowing equipment for members' use, or a place to store your own shell and oars. Annual events include the Walton Small Boats Head, the Walton and Weybridge Regatta, and at least two triathlons: the Turkey, and the Easter Bunny. The Boathouse at the end of Sunbury Lane provides changing rooms, storage space for boats, workout space for weight and ergometer training, and a friendly bar. Sincerely, Steve Trapmore MBE WRC President |
