Walton’s current clubhouse dates back to 1954. While it has been extended and improved many times since then, it is now time to replace it. We want to build a new clubhouse to accommodate more members, to provide better facilities for the current members, to store more boats, and to enable the club to continue to grow. We want to be the best club on the Upper Thames, but we can’t do that with the current facilities.

We have a fund raising committee and a number of fund raising projects going on
The club had a fund raising committee in 1952, which had a target of £650. Times have moved on, and our target today is £400,000. We have a variety of fund raising projects and initiatives, which are getting underway now. We are working hard to involve as many members of the local community as possible to raise the money .
You the members are going to have to contribute a big part of this.
But the main source for much of the money is going to have to be the current membership. We will be in touch over the coming months to introduce a variety of fund raising projects, and invite you to take part.
Gift Aid is a very efficient way of giving money
As an approved community sports club, Walton Rowing Club is allowed to claim back any tax you may have paid on the money for your donation. So if you make a donation through Gift Aid and pay tax at the rate of 22%, we will be able to claim back from the government 28p for every pound you donate (100/0.78). Furthermore if you are a higher rate tax payer, you can declare the gift on your tax return and the government will send us the extra money.
This means that £1,000 can be turned into at least £1,280 just so long as donations are made through Gift Aid. Imagine what a difference that could make, and it doesn’t cost you a thing.
For more info on making a donation and the gift aid form click here. Please complete the form and return it to the secretary at the club. |
