The
opening times are on a Tuesday and Thursday evenings 7.30 to 11.00 also Sundays
from 12.00 to 4.00. We also open the end part of the bar as a tuck shop
for soft drinks, sports drinks and confectionery from 9.30 to 10.30.
Our aim is to be a real ale bar so we have all out beer from either
a wholesale company call Flying Firkin which do monthly promotions or from
local small breweries.
The main small brewery is Hogs Back which we have a regular order
for there T.E.A. (Tradition English Ale) as long as they have been brewing and
usually one of three others from the selection. We also get supplies at
various times from Surrey Hills Brewery, Twickenham Fine Ales, and Grand Union
Brewery.
The bar profits are all put into helping the club and as many
members as possible who partake in refreshment the more funds we can
raise. Taking this into account we yearly hold a beer festival on the
weekend of the Silver Sculls. Last year we encouraged members to sponsor the
beers this enabled us to make a bigger profit and hopefully this year we can
get more sponsors. You do not have to sponsor a whole barrel but a
donation towards if would be appreciated (barrels cost from approx.£54 to £81)
or a group could get together and sponsor a barrel. If anyone/group want
a particular beer we will try to obtain it if we have enough notice to get it
in.
We do try to have the odd trips out such as going for a look around
the Hogs Back Brewery and more regular is the yearly trip on the RAT (Real Ale
Train) which takes place on the Watercress Line. On both of these trips
we are limited on numbers so when any notices go up it is on a first come first
served basis.
Also any functions held by the club the bar is always open this
also applies if any members wish to hold a function.
