Egham 2010

The younger juniors had a great day at Egham. It started rather mixed: the J14B quad beat arch-rivals Windsor Boys but then lost in the final to Henley. The A quad beat Guildford comfortably but then lost by the smallest of margins to Windsor Boys in a very tough race. The J13 girls’ double also lost in the final, while the J13 boys were never comfortable in a badly-rigged boat and lost in their heat to Tideway Scullers, having taken it to the line. The J12 girls fought their first race very well and came off the water quite happy despite losing narrowly.

In the afternoon, though, the J13 boys’ quad of Alexi Buckingham, James Williamson, Manu Passos-Carr and Jordan Piddlesden, with Ross Jones coxing, came through three races very comfortably to win, and Laurie Fain and Harry Gaywood were never seriously challenged, even by a Windsor Boys’ double which was clearly very surprised not to win!
